PASS HAPPY

Tampa Bay AND Pittsburgh: Yee-haw, everybody! Start ‘em if you got ‘em! This could be one of the best MNF games in recent history if the first two games of the season are any indication. Ryan Fitzpatrick has lit up both the Saints and Eagles, two defenses that were supposedly better than average coming into the season. His WRs Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson and even Chris Godwin have all put up solid stats and all represent startable players come Monday night. And it appears O.J. Howard is the TE of choice for Fitzmagic. On the other sideline, yes there has been drama, but we’re thinking (or perhaps hoping?) that it all dies down by Monday and Big Ben makes nice with Antonio Brown. We’re expecting big things out of them come Monday night. And JuJu Smith-Schuster should not disappoint either. We remain torn on Jesse James having another stellar effort. He represents a “good” start only. Great Starts: Fitzpatrick, Roethlisberger, Brown, Evans and Smith-Schuster Good Starts: Godwin, Jackson, Howard and James

New Orleans (@ATL): This is almost a “start ‘em if you got ‘em” type of situation too, but we are definitely sold on Drew Brees and his pass-catchers this week. Brees has had success in this matchup before and after losing to Tampa Bay and squeaking out a win against the Browns, the Saints look to get back on track against this divisional rival. Another 300+ yard effort is very possible from Brees, with another high-volume game from WR Michael Thomas. They represent great starts, while Ted Ginn Jr. should be a good start. Maybe lump TE Ben Watson in there. And while not a QB or WR, those with RB Alvin Kamara on their team, expect the bulk of his production to come through the air too. He’s a great start along with Brees and Thomas. Great Starts: Brees, Thomas, Kamara Good Starts: Ginn Jr. and Watson.

RUN HAPPY

Minnesota (vs. BUF): It is a bit of a light week in terms of RB projected rushing yardage, but when we look at potential “run happy” candidates, we look for the team that is projected to win by the highest margins. This week, it’s the Vikings. They should easily dispose of the Bills at home, which means Dalvin Cook is a great start. He only has 78 rushing yards on the season, but he should easily double that total this week. Cook also adds to his production via the pass. For those in deep leagues that need a flex play, Latavius Murray may get 40-50 yards and a late garbage time TD. Great Start: Cook Desperate Flex Play: Murray

Houston (vs. NYG): Another game that should be well in hand by halftime is the Giants/Texans tilt. Lamar Miller is averaging 83 rushing yards per game and while he hasn’t caught the ball much (only 3 receptions), he should be a great start against the G-men. While the Giants look to stop Will Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins (a very tall order), they will let Miller run unabated. Expect 100 combined yards and a score out of the Texan RB this week. Unfortunately his backup Alfred Blue is too far of a reach, even in the deepest of leagues. Great Start: Miller
